About Patrick

I didn’t set out to start a skin care company.
My interest in wellness goes back to high school, when I did what a lot of people did at the time: I moisturized constantly (with whatever was on the shelf) and ran because it felt good. Running helped clear my head, and I took it as proof that I was doing something right. I assumed that if I stayed active and kept my skin hydrated, that was enough.
After moving to New York, those assumptions started to be challenged.
I began paying closer attention to how my body actually felt—physically and mentally—and to how closely the two were linked. That curiosity eventually led me to study massage therapy at the Swedish Institute. There, I learned just how capable the body is when it’s supported rather than pushed. Over and over, I saw that when you remove stressors and give the body what it needs, it often finds its own way back to balance.
From there, my focus shifted to my everyday environment: the products I used in my home and on my skin. I started replacing harsh, overly complicated products with simpler, more thoughtfully made alternatives. While studying aromatherapy through the Aromahead Institute, I was introduced to essential oils—not as trends or fragrances, but as powerful plant materials that deserved care and restraint. When I began using them consistently, I noticed a real difference, not just in my skin but in how I felt overall.
That experience is what ultimately shaped Patrick Smith Botanicals.
PSB products are made in small batches, using plant-derived ingredients and essential oils chosen for what they do, not just how they smell. I believe that when it comes to skin care, clarity matters: fewer steps, well-chosen ingredients, and formulas that don’t try to do everything at once. Everything is cruelty-free, thoughtfully formulated, and designed to support the body’s natural ability to take care of itself.
What I make—and how I make it—reflects a larger belief: that our personal choices matter. The products we use, the companies we support, and the way we treat our bodies and environment are connected in ways we don’t always notice right away. For me, PSB is about responsibility as much as it is about skin care.
I’m glad you’re here.
